Preschool Programs

Building Skills That Last a Lifetime

Our Preschool program is designed for children ages 2.9 to 4 years and focuses on developing independence, social skills, and early academic foundations. At this stage, children are eager to explore, ask questions, and engage with the world around them.

At Little Steps, we channel that energy into purposeful learning experiences that build confidence and readiness for Pre-K and beyond.

Our Curriculum Approach

Learning Through Structure, Play, and Purpose

Our preschool curriculum blends structured learning with hands-on exploration to support the whole child—socially, emotionally, physically, and academically.

  • Children engage in daily activities that support:

  • Early literacy development (letter recognition, phonemic awareness, storytelling)

  • Foundational math skills (counting, patterns, number recognition)

  • Fine motor development through art and writing activities

  • Gross motor skills through outdoor play and movement

  • Social-emotional learning, including cooperation, listening, and problem-solving

Lessons are designed to be age-appropriate while encouraging independence, creativity, and critical thinking.

We introduce more structured circle time, group learning, and guided activities to gently prepare children for the expectations of Pre-K.

A Structured Yet Nurturing Environment

Confidence Through Consistency

Preschoolers thrive on routine. Our daily schedule provides predictability while still allowing room for exploration, creativity, and movement.

Children practice:

  • Following multi-step directions

  • Working collaboratively with peers

  • Expressing thoughts and feelings appropriately

  • Developing attention span during structured activities

Daily outdoor play is also an important part of our routine. Time outside supports gross motor development, coordination, and overall well-being while giving children space to explore and build confidence in a safe, supervised environment.

We balance academic growth with emotional support and active play to ensure each child feels successful.

Social Growth & Emotional Development

Learning to Lead and Belong

Preschool is a key time for social development. Our educators guide children through:

  • Cooperative play

  • Conflict resolution

  • Turn-taking

  • Developing friendships

  • Building empathy and kindness

These early social skills are just as important as academic readiness.

Preparing for Pre-K

Laying the Academic Foundation

As children approach Pre-K, we gradually increase exposure to structured academic concepts while maintaining a nurturing classroom atmosphere.

By the end of Preschool, children are:

  • Recognizing letters and sounds

  • Demonstrating early writing skills

  • Counting with confidence

  • Following classroom routines independently

  • Engaging in cooperative group activities

Our goal is to ensure every child transitions into Pre-K feeling capable and confident.
